DNC's Interfaith Service Comes up Empty

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

August 26, 2008

They had an “interfaith service” here in Denver to kickoff the Democratic Convention. Whenever I hear the word “interfaith” I am reminded of how radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger defined that word. She said to her, interfaith means interfaithless.

What else could you call it when you had readings from the Koran by a Muslim imam, the sayings of Buddha, a rabbi reading from the Old Testament and someone else reading from the New Testament?

How do these people pray at an interfaith service: “To whom it may concern”?

God cannot be brought down to earth to serve the interests and agendas of man. He stooped down to earth to serve His own interests, demonstrating His love for us in that even while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. That message was absent from the interfaith service, because it is unique and in stark contrast to every other faith.

Put not your trust in princes and kings remains good advice, whether they be Democrats or Republicans.
